About Me

Hi! I'm Andrew Trecha and I'm a web designer with over 15 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining websites. I'm always seeking to learn and keep up with current web trends alongside my daily work. I specialize in, custom Wordpress, Drupal, and static websites.

Over the years I have honed my skills in taking designs and quickly turning them into pixel perfect responsive websites. Responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap and Foundation have played a role in my work and I understand how to leverage only those assets that are needed for a project. In addition, I'm also comfortable coming up with fully custom, non-framework CSS.

I am fluent in HTML5, SASS/LESS/CSS, jQuery/JavaScript and some PHP along with design tools such as Sketch and the Adobe Suite. In my current work, I develop locally in a LAMP stack such as MAMP or Vagrant, and I have some experience using AWS and Pantheon with Wordpress and Drupal, respectively. I have some experience with and an understanding of static site generators such as Jekyll and am familiar with modern development workflows using tools like NPM, Yarn, Composer, Drush, Gulp, Bower, Git, etc. I'm also easily able to fall into and pick up on existing workflows and practices as needed.

Currently I'm working on becoming more proficient with vanilla JavaScript and I'd like to learn more about React.js and Next.js.

I was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and I moved to the United States in 1991. In 2015 I decided to call Portland home along with my wife and our two cats. I've been playing music most of my life and I love working on guitars, building things like guitar pickups and guitar pedals, and I'm an avid cyclist.
